For someone who didn’t really know the story, the details of what happened were really interesting
Plot
During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports broadcast team must adapt to live coverage of Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group. The performances are believable, the comedy is in the right place, and the pacing and running time 39;don’t let you peek at the exit before the credits.
They did a great job of not telegraphing plot points
Some might find the lack of a change of scenery tiresome, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was your world, and to feel like they were there on this eventful day.
It’s thought-provoking without being preachy
They touched on the political and emotional elements nicely. The mix of footage from the actual event, including the broadcast footage, definitely draws you into the experience more.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I’d really want to watch over and over again, it’s a very well-made piece that I can only recommend to my friends who like films like this.
