The show is said to be an anthology-style series with new characters for each season
Plot
The exploits of several guests and staff at a luxury resort over the course of a week. Despite the show being conceived as a one-season miniseries, HBO renewed the series for a second season.
Featured on Jeremy Vine: Episode #4,175 (2021)
HBO has done this before (to great acclaim) with the series True Detective (2014). While parts of the first season can be intimidating.
This second season is as great as anyone could hope for
It starts a little slow, the first episode, but it quickly finds its feet and keeps me hooked, even though I’m not that experienced. It feels like a review of every thought I had about a resort vacation I’d long forgotten.
With the sharpest eye for detail I’ve ever seen, the guy seems to have no sense of boundaries
For that alone it’s a joy, but don’t worry, it goes beyond that, flirting with the heights of drama and beauty like opera, something quite appropriate given its Sicilian setting. Given the excellence of the acting and the apparent naturalness of the story, I’d say that series creator Mike White is an unrivaled genius.
