Plot
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are competing to win the team’s Fan of the Year award, as judged by Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement. The film was shot on historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which looks just like it all year round. The locations that served as the Higman Family Store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are also family stores in real life.

The square is also lit up for Christmas, just like in the film. British viewer here, so all the excitement and desperate passion for the American football team was lost on someone on this side of the pond. I only watched because I love seeing Tyler.
This film was lacking
Her previous works have always had cheeky humor with a wink – what girl wouldn’t love that! Her screen time was completely blown away by the over-the-top acting of the most absurd family, and coupled with the ridiculous plot, you reach the point where you’d rather walk on hot coals than sit through the end. Her co-star.
Hunter King never really cast Nuthard as her romantic lead
Hines had much better relationships with other actresses who were more believable in her previous films. It showed that there was no chemistry between these two. Hopefully Hines gets more films like It Was Always You, because this one didn’t do her any favors.
