He’s smart

He’s beloved. He’s Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. In Season 8, Angel Batista wasn’t always played by David Zayas.

His son David Zayas Jr

replaces his father in some shots, as the two look very much alike. Visible throughout the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side. Later in Season 2, the scar moved to the right side, leaving his left side without a mark.

True to Jeff Lindsay’s books

Absolutely brilliant. The visual contrast between the darkness of Dexter’s secret life and the glamour of Miami adds an almost surreal quality. The character development is spot on, slowly unraveling the background so you can see the development of Dexter’s sociopathic personality and his confusion over human behavior compared to his own.

The creators of this series should also turn to the books of Andrew Vachss

Dexter is an actor in his own life; his relationships with his coworkers and his personal life are well-represented in video media. The fact that he is an expert in blood spatter is a dark piece, but set in the strange world of Miami life is almost believable.
