A two-hour window into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, the documentary follows six long years of work during the making of The Boy and the Stork, the latest film from the Japanese animation master.. This was a very moving and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa gets to closely observe Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process during the making of The Boy and the Heron. He beautifully blends scenes from Miyazakis films and the real people involved in the making of the film and people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Helsinki International Film Festival Love & Anarchy. Some moments had the audience laughing out loud and some moments people were wiping their levels. I hope Miyazaki is able to make more films. I cannot recommend this documentary enough to any ghibli fan.
