Mentioned in Half in the Bag: Snow Falls (2023) (2023)
Plot
It follows a group of friends as they travel to a remote campsite to film a documentary. What they find is something far more sinister than they could have ever imagined. When Gary first appears, blood is dripping from his left ear, but in later scenes it only drips from his right ear and no trace of blood is seen around his left ear.
which just doesn’t work
It’s very hard to make a decent horror film when the conceit is to make a cheap pastiche based on a stupid premise. The whole thing is practically a mashup of Evil Dead and Knock At The Cabin – which in itself is an act of blasphemy. And it tries too hard to force a horror-comedy aspect into the plot…
Or serious horror?
Because it makes the whole thing feel confused about what it wants to be. Is it supposed to be a comedy? One can only assume they tried to take the best of both worlds.
It’s just not a very good movie
However, in this instance, these two different paths mix like oil and water. The core plot feels extremely forced at best. But I guess that’s what happens when you try to imitate a blunderer like Shyamalan.
it’s still pretty bad
Unsurprisingly, the same director made the movie that gave us the farce Snow Falls (among other terrible 2023 releases). And while it may not be as bad as that movie… 2 out of 10.
